Aerial refueling was first used way back in 1923 and soon established itself as an essential operation when it comes to combat aircraft.
Without the need to land and take off the aircraft are much safer from enemy attack.
On long journeys aircraft can stay on course and not have to deviate to airfields.

There are 2 types of refueling system. The probe and drogue system is simpler and allows for easier non assisted docking.
The flying boom system needs a dedicated handler but delivers the fuel much quicker.
Practically every type of military aircraft can be set up to refuel using these methods.
From unmanned drones to attack helicopters to fighter aircraft and huge transport aircraft.
As we see aircraft develop we can see one consistent thing, aerial refueling will always be needed and is something quite spectacular to see.
